Terms of Service
Last updated:
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ClipDog (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using ClipDog, you confirm that you can form a binding contract, that you accept these Terms, and that you agree to comply with them and with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. These Terms apply to all visitors and account holders alike.
2. The service
ClipDog lets you add publicly available YouTube channels, automatically transcribes and summarizes their videos, and lets you chat with the resulting knowledge - with citations back to the source video and timestamp. The Service also offers memory (facts you or the assistant record about your preferences), projects (your own notes, files, and pinned channels), and optional voice input/output. The Service is provided on a subscription basis as described in Section 4.
3. Accounts & eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use ClipDog. You sign in with a magic link sent to your email address - there is no password to manage, but you are responsible for keeping access to that email account secure, since anyone with access to it can sign in to your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us at support@clipdog.ai if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization.
4. Subscriptions, trials & billing
ClipDog is a paid subscription product billed monthly through Stripe. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. A valid payment card is required to start a trial, but you will not be charged until the trial ends on day 7. If you cancel before then, you will not be charged.
- Renewal. After the trial, your subscription renews automatically every month at the then-current price for your plan until you cancel.
- Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from Settings → Billing (Stripe’s Customer Portal). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period - you keep full access until then, and you will not be charged again afterward.
- No partial refunds. Charges are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods. If you cancel partway through a period, you are not entitled to a prorated refund for the unused portion.
- Plan changes. You may upgrade or downgrade at any time; changes to your usage limits take effect immediately, and Stripe prorates the price difference on your next invoice per its standard proration rules.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, your account may move to a read-only, grace-period state (existing chats remain readable, new processing pauses) until payment succeeds or the subscription is canceled.
5. Acceptable use policy
ClipDog exists to help you learn from and research public YouTube content faster - not to help anyone profit from, or misrepresent, someone else’s work. When you use the Service you agree that outputs (transcripts, summaries, insights, and chat responses) are for your own learning and research, and you will not use the Service, or anything it produces, to:
- Republish, redistribute, or resell transcripts, summaries, or generated insights - in whole or in part, verbatim or lightly reworded - as your own content or as a substitute for the original creator’s video;
- Circumvent a creator’s monetization, including by packaging their content so viewers no longer need to watch (and be monetized on) the original video, or by scraping ClipDog outputs to build a competing product from a specific creator’s catalog;
- Impersonate a creator, imply their endorsement, or present ClipDog’s AI-generated summaries or chat answers as statements made by the creator themselves;
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, plan caps, or access controls, or use the Service to build a bulk-scraping or data-resale pipeline;
- Upload, submit, or generate unlawful, infringing, harassing, or malicious content through project files or chat.
We built ClipDog to make it easier to learn from creators, not to compete with them for attention or revenue. Beyond the explicit prohibitions above, we actively discourage any use that would let someone benefit from a creator’s work without that creator’s knowledge, credit, or consent - even where a specific case is not listed here. When in doubt, ask yourself whether the creator whose video you’re discussing would be comfortable with how you’re using the result; if not, don’t do it.
You are solely responsible for how you use the Service and its outputs, including any decisions you make or content you create based on them. Violating this Acceptable Use Policy is grounds for suspension or termination under Section 13.
6. AI-generated content; no warranty
Transcripts, summaries, insight extractions, and chat responses produced by ClipDog are AI-generated research aids derived from publicly available YouTube content. They are provided “as is” and “as available,” without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Diarization, timestamps, and summaries can contain errors - every chat answer is cited back to a specific video and timestamp precisely so you can verify it against the source. Do not treat any output as professional, financial, medical, legal, or other expert advice, and do not rely on it without independently checking the cited source.
7. Your content & project files
You retain all rights to the notes, instructions, and files you upload into projects, and to your chat messages. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit that content solely to operate and improve the Service for you (for example, using it as chat context, or running it through our AI provider to generate a response). You are responsible for making sure you have the right to upload any file you add to a project, and for not uploading unlawful or infringing material.
8. Our intellectual property
The ClipDog name, logo, product design, and underlying software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose - they do not grant you any right to our trademarks, source code, or product design.
9. DMCA & creator takedown procedure
ClipDog only processes videos from channels that a user has added, and only surfaces public-facing channel/video pages for channels flagged internally as publicPageEnabled. If you are a creator (or an authorized representative) and want a channel or video removed from ClipDog’s public pages, or want to dispute how your content is processed, contact us at support@clipdog.ai with:
- The channel URL or video URL(s) in question;
- Confirmation that you are the creator or authorized to act on their behalf;
- A description of the requested action (removal or dispute).
On a valid request, we will disable the channel’s publicPageEnabled flag - removing its public directory, channel, and video pages from the site and from our sitemap - within 5 business days. This mirrors our standard DMCA counter-notice process for copyright claims under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and the equivalent process is available for creators outside the U.S.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ClipDog, its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, liability, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with: (a) your use or misuse of the Service; (b) your violation of this Acceptable Use Policy or any other part of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third party’s rights, including a creator’s intellectual property or monetization rights.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY TRANSCRIPT, SUMMARY, OR CHAT RESPONSE WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLIPDOG AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Billing. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you violate this Acceptable Use Policy or any other material term of these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. On termination for an Acceptable Use Policy violation, no refund is owed for the remainder of your current billing period. Sections that by their nature should survive termination - including AI-Generated Content, Indemnification, Disclaimers, and Limitation of Liability - do survive.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The specific state venue within the United States will be confirmed with counsel before launch.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or an in-app notice. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
