Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains what information ClipDog collects, how we use it, who else processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses the Service.

1. Overview

ClipDog turns YouTube channels you add into knowledge you can chat with. To do that, we store your account details, the channels you add, the chats you have, and a small amount of usage data - and we send parts of that to a short list of named subprocessors (Section 4) to actually run the Service. We do not sell your personal data, and we only collect what the product needs to work.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, which is how you sign in and how we contact you about your account or billing.
  • Profile & memory: onboarding answers and learned facts the assistant records about your preferences (e.g. topics you care about) so it can personalize answers - all visible and editable by you in Settings.
  • Chats: your messages, the assistant’s responses, and citations, stored so your conversation history persists across sessions.
  • Uploaded project files: notes, instructions, and files you add to a project as extra knowledge for the assistant.
  • Usage metrics: product-usage data such as which features you use, message counts, and processing activity, used to operate rate limits, plan caps, and to improve the product.
  • Billing information: handled by Stripe on our behalf (see Section 4) - we store only your subscription status and plan, not your card details.

We do not collect data about channels or videos you have not added, and we do not use your account for advertising profiling.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above to: operate the Service (authenticate you, run chats, enforce plan limits); personalize responses via memory; process billing and manage your subscription; send transactional email (sign-in links; payment receipts come directly from our payment processor, Stripe); maintain security and prevent abuse; and improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns. We do not use your chats, memory, or project files to train models for other customers.

4. Subprocessors & third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers (subprocessors) to run ClipDog. Each one only receives the data it needs to perform its function:

Subprocessors and the data each one receives
SubprocessorPurposeWhat they receive
ConvexDatabase, file storage & backend infrastructureAccount data, chat messages, memory entries, project notes/files, and channel/video metadata - everything the Service stores.
Google GeminiTranscription, summarization, embeddings & chat responsesVideo audio/transcript content (from public YouTube videos), and your chat messages and project context, sent as model prompts.
StripePayment processing & subscription billingYour name, email, billing address, and payment method - handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
ResendSign-in (magic link) email deliveryYour email address and a single-use sign-in link.

Each subprocessor is contractually bound to use your data only to provide its service to us, and is subject to its own privacy and security commitments.

5. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties, ever. We share data only with the subprocessors above (to operate the Service on our behalf) or when required by law.

6. Cookies & tracking

ClipDog uses a single essential cookie to maintain your signed-in session - it is required for the Service to work and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not run third-party advertising trackers or sell data derived from cookies. We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics (no personal profiling) to understand which pages and features are used, but this never combines with advertising networks.

7. Data retention

We retain your account data, chats, memory, and project files for as long as your account is active, so the product keeps working the way you left it. Channel and video transcripts are global, public-source data shared across all users of a channel (a video is only ever transcribed once) and are retained independently of any single account - see Section 8 for what happens to each category when you delete your account.

8. Account deletion

You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings - it takes effect immediately. When you do, we permanently delete your personal data: your profile, memory entries, chats, projects and project files, your channel subscriptions (which channels you follow), and your subscription/billing record (any active or trialing Stripe subscription is canceled immediately as part of deletion, not at the end of the billing period). If you’d rather have us do it for you, or you can’t access the app, email support@clipdog.ai from the email address on your account and we will process the deletion within 30 days.

Channel and video transcripts/summaries are not user data - they are derived from publicly available YouTube content, shared globally across every user who has added that channel, and are unaffected by any single account’s deletion. Deleting your account removes your access to and association with that shared knowledge; it does not remove the underlying public-source transcript from the catalog.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app: edit your profile and memory, add or remove project files, and delete your account entirely from Settings. For anything else - or if you’d rather we handle a request for you - email support@clipdog.ai and we will respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days.

10. Data security

We use industry-standard safeguards - encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers (see Section 4) - to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data protected and to respond quickly to any incident.

11. Children's privacy

ClipDog is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at support@clipdog.ai and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or an in-app notice. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
